Christmas has offically started

Very special time of year. I feel like a kid. I love all the nice things that we get to see and experience only this time of year. We trekked out to see all the Macys' Trees Themed window displays on 34th Street - Totally amazing. A different theme for every window, animatronics, a candy cane eating polar bear, and under the sea mermaid adventure, a tv eyed dragon and of course Santa in his work shop. Pics to come :) While we were at it, we took a stroll out to Rockefeller Center and took some pics of the tree and checked out Tim's window displays for Anthropologie.

The old man and I had exchanged gifts with some people that we weren't going to see over the holidays last weekend and today I got one of my first presents from him - what was it? A Dick In A Box? no... :) though I could watch that video about a hundred more times and it never gets old.

He surprised me with my all time favorite chocolate truffles. Vosges Haut Chocolat - Exotic Truffles. I know that they're exquisite and hand made fresh with all natural ingredients and thats why he had to get me to open the present a bit early - honestly I don't mind one iota. These are hands down the best chocolates ever. Who Loves The Chocolate? - Everybody Loves These Chocolates. They're pretty much the best most delicious truffles :) If you get a chance, definately get your hands on some!

Off to bed and then on to the half day Friday. This weekend will be spent with family :) Then we're off until the new year. Some projects that i'll try to work on will include some photo updates, painting the bathroom, hanging drapes in the bedroom and clearing out all the closets. I also have some Netflix to catch up on, checking out new movies in the theatre as well as visiting old friends, so we'll see what what happens! It may all just go to shite and end up with me on the bed sleeping for 10 days straight!

Praga Khan - We Fuel Our Own High

From one of the best cds from 2006
Praga Khan : Soundscraper

Deep in the center of my soul
I am hungry
Longing for your touch
Moments of attraction
Deep in the center of my soul
I am thirsty
Longing for your lips
A physical reaction
We fuel our own high
And we touch the sky
Now that I’ve found you
My life is so complete
Your on my mind
When I close my eyes
I daydream about you
I finally found love
Deep in the darkness of the Night
I am hungry
Hungry for your love
A chemical attraction
Deep in the darkness of the Night
I am thirsty
Driven by desire
A physical reaction
We fuel our own high
As we touch the sky
Now that I’ve found you
My life is so complete
Your on my mind
When I close my eyes
I daydream about you
I finally found love

Lazy Sunday

The old man and I woke up around Noon-ish, rolled out of bed and had a lazy Sunday. Kara & Charles were the last to leave on Saurday. Thier new puppys are so adorable pics to come...

I finished cleaning up and straightening from the night before - putting everything and the birds back in thier rightful places. OH and managed to find Pictionary - I was so desperately looking for it on Saturday since a few people really wanted to play. oh well.

Later, I made some french onion soup - thanks be to Amy for the crocks cos they make the soup that much more authentic~ it was super tasty. *pats back*

New Family Guy last night was as usual hysterical.
looking forword to a short work week with very little to do :)

Singing Christmas Songs... la la la

Holiday Parties and Dinner
This year seems more festive then most. We've gone to more parties then last year and hosted a small dinner for some friends on Saturday. Missing were Spooky and Allison :( they just recieved bad news on Fridays and regrettably could not attend. I dont know whats come over me but i'm really jazzed about Christmas this year. I play the annoying songs, and they don't annoy me. I LOVE looking at all the great homes decorated with tonnes of lights - in fact the old man and I are planning yet another pilgrimage out to the famed Elvis House in NJ

We did however enjoy a rather swanky party at a fancy nyc rooftop nightspot last Wednesday courtesy of the Parent Corporation complete with top shelf open bar. hmm. A drunkard would have loved this. I stayed pretty moderate as usual, but did manage to enjoy apricot mimosas and some Ameretto Sours. The place was way too gorgeous to ruin it with blantant drunkeness~ I had a great time joking around with people and enjoying the wonderful view of NYC and the empire state building. Had I known, I would have taken my camera and used that opportunity for an impromptu photo shoot. I only had the 'travel' cam with me so it was pointless.

Friday there was an office party gone out of control~ For every one person invited, three showed. It got really manic really quickly and wanted to leave early but I kept seeing more and more people who wanted to chat! It's not a bad thing but all that was on my mind was work - since I was at the office, and also baking my pies for the following night. Bands showed up, managers showed up... We had several of our co-workers DJ'ing and it was so great - the music went from 80s New Wave to Modern synth-esqe to 50's rockabilly and 60's Motown. We ended up walking to the PATH with a coworker at about 10ish, so we put in a good four hours of schmoozing - not too bad. ;)

It was nice to be home. seriously. The old man and I sat on the couch and hung out with eachother alone (**finally**) and our babies (the birds) in front of our beautiful 7 foot tree and chilled, enjoying eachother, quietly chatting. quite lovely actually. It's all about the little moments with me - i've always known that to be true, just that it had been happening less frequently lately.

Saturday - Holiday Dinner Party
I didn't invite the normal list of 20-40 folks this time and I have to say at first I was torn over it, cos part of me used to love huge events but this time, the small intimate dinner just worked out way nicer. Plus, it's not like we live in a huge house where we can seat so many people - It was way more manageable this year I have to say, no panicked clausterphobic anxiety for me. Plus everyone did a little something to pitch in and help so that rocked! The old man, Pam and I all decided a while ago that the big drinking parties aren't our thing these days - not that I don't like all my friends over, but there's something about a little quiet dinner party with holiday music on that just does it for me! So the three of us put our heads together and came up with a great menu, hell, maybe we've just started some new holiday tradition! All together there was just 7 people invited, not counting us and Pam (who did such a great job on cooking the main entrees).

Saturday morning I got up pretty early took care of some stuff and did a good cleaning around the apartment; then went across the hall to go over menu planning with Pam. The old man made sure the deck was cleaned up and got some pretty flowers for the apt. That night - we had some drinks and snacks out, for when our friends got there, then we starting pulling out all the food~ a Brie in puff pastry, pork loins, roasted turkey Breast, green beans with red pepper, roasted garlic potatoes, croissants, rolls, and a couple more sides we didn't need!!! We made food for an army of people~ For dessert there was Dunkin Donuts Doughnuts, all kinds of cookies, an apple pie & pumpkin pie, that I personally baked that afternoon, a cheesecake Pam made and chocolates! Not to mention, early Saturday afteroon, just after I got done straightening, I made homemade Mulled Cider with fresh oranges, cinnimon and cloves, simmering all day when you walked in our place just smelled gorgeous, like Christmas! There were lotsa jokes! (some groaners, some really hysterical), presents! (I'm so jazzed that Tim and Amy loved thier gifts. I love them both as if they were my blood siblings) and even Kara and Charles' new puppies Dax and Neo who are pretty much the cutest, most friendly cuddling puppy dogs i've ever met!

My holiday merriment isn't far from over... there's going to be at least two more Christmas dinners as well as our plans for new years eve (still up in the air).

I never cared for Christmas so much until I hooked up with my old man... aw, I know that was a groaner - I'm usually not that sappy but it's true. I know we have our fights but we gotta love eachother.

Photo Sampling - one

I've put up a few photos up on my imeem.com acct.

Ranging from Portraits to Commissioned work to Band Shots, and Nature; it's just a mixed bag of the work i'm capable of. Way more to come, most likely during winter break when I will actually have time!

I love that Kara uses this word to describe how drunk people are...

Wonderful Time

Must have gained at least 20 lbs... (not really) but it was all worth it. Petr and Rose were in town so we all went out to dinner & drinks ... every... night! (almost) I feel like the entire weekend was COFFEE~ and restaurants :) Got to know new people and got to know a new part of myself too.

I have to say I was a bit nervous about meeting Rose, but almost instantly - my apprehension dissolved as I fell instantly in love with her - which for me was huge, since those of you who know me know that I have hangups with party girls and girls under the age of 27. lol

It sounds stupid but... alot of these girls are selfish, egotistic and self centered and have no respect for others. I think that after you reach your 30s then you end up calming down and being more laid back about looks and finally drop the High School bullshit and are able to learn from your life lessons.

I'm from the "Been there done that" mentality - it bores me to tears to have to deal with ultra hip know it alls, so I end up surrounded by people mostly my age who are grounded, straight up, secure in their skin people who dont need to rely on drugs or alcohol for a good time. It's an oddity for me to meet a really cool grounded younger person who can relate to me and make me feel instantly at ease.

This entire weekend was spent talking - about so many things. Joking, getting to know my friends better, laughing, telling stories... I mean, seriously, this is what a good time for me is. Why cloud it by going to a noisey bar or club and having to shout at eachother and getting wasted to forget life?

Back to meeting Rose, I felt some kind of kindred spirit thing going on between us. I gave her my old rockablilly leather jacket; worn in, painted and repainted over a dozen times. It's an old school thing, but it's all about passing the torch and honoring the new generation. I'm not having children so the thought of me hanging on to a hand me down for a future me is out of the question. It felt really great to be able to pass the jacket down to her - She's totally the person who should have it.

Inbetween dinner and drinks we met up with a bunch of peeps at this great Czech restaurant that we'd been to once before and the food was just as delicious on Saturday! There were at least four tables of us - i'm pretty sure we managed to piss off the staff tho... maybe its cos we took up a quarter of the dining room for four hours!! lol Hey, it happens when you get to chatting - no one wants to leave!

We also purchased a live Christmas Tree and had an impromptu photo shoot on Sunday as I was beginning the decorating process. Pics to come!

Apart from spending the quality time - I Also came to the realization that I'm so not the person I was anymore so I should stop trying to be what i'm clearly not. I don't ever want to feel bad about being "left out". I'm in a whole new place in my life. A great laid back happy place filled with wonderful experiences and people who truly get me.

Got some holiday parties this week - hope to try to get some rest :)

oof, spent the entire day cleaning and christmas shopping

another uphill battle

Serious work is an uphill battle today although the ponderous life issues and corresponding responsibilities have not gone away.

In thought you are ready to leave with just about anyone who has an idea for spontaneous fun. In pragmatic terms, however, escape may not be so simple. Differentiating between a practical plan and a pipe dream can be the difference now between success and failure.

black sheep

i love chris corner. i swear, if ever there were a songwriter / musician who could read my thoughts and so elegantly present them exact and sweetly in electro-verse its this guy.

after obsessing over iamx's last two releases for what seems an eternity, i revisited some older sneaker pimps songs. still, the same relatability.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't look now, we're branded, we're the black sheep
Sewn apart and Siamese--the black sheep
When the water seems too deep
The shadows always wait beneath
But laughing loud we brave the role of black sheep

If you see me you'll be crossing the street
Or kick me and then leave me to bleed
If looks could kill wouldn't need all the pills
But I take what it needs to be easy with the black sheep now

Don't look now, we're stranded here as black sheep
Swallowed whole and out of reach--the black sheep
Unsafe enough for nowWe've sheparded it from higher ground
But drowned all out we save the role of black sheep

If you see me you'll be crossing the street
Or kick me and then leave me to bleed
If looks could kill wouldn't need all the pills
But I take what it needs to be easy with the black sheep now
------------------------------------------------------------------

i guess its because of that same old story - me the outcast (black sheep) of the family at events my whole life, the outcast at the parties, and in social circles. its my swan song - some recent events that made me really open my eyes and really truly see situations and people for what they are.

how true

A variety of circumstances that have been stirring up anxiety may now reach the boiling point. But just before the critical temperature is reached, everything cools just enough to prevent the real action from taking place. You don't want your emotions to spill over, but withholding them will just make matters worse. Keeping your eyes on the big picture can prevent any unneeded frustration.

Evil Dead - The Musical

we saw it on 10/30 and i'm dying to see it again.

Got to get seats in the splatter zone it's way more fun!
The songs were hillarious, the lead was so spot on...

Chris and I did get bloody - just not on our faces :) We had blood all over our shirts and jeans. BUT Tim - completely untouched. IDK how on Earth that happened.

Tim_BNI
Either my "Indifference Aura" would not allow for interaction with the outside world, or I wanted it to happen too much, that's usually the way it goes. Now, crack junky blood in my face on the subway at 3AM... that's more plausible!

quotes of the day...

My own business always bores me to death; I prefer other people's. - Oscar Wilde

The actual tragedies of life bear no relation to one's preconceived ideas. In the event, one is always bewildered by their simplicity, their grandeur of design, and by that element of the bizzare which seems inherent in them. - Jean Cocteau

thanksgiving

I'm glad my Thanksgiving was drama free but then I found out about some other drama. Eh, I just can't care anymore. I'm doing all I can lately to be less promenent online. If people are gonna talk about me then let them what can I do? Cry? I know who my friends are and certainly cant' worry about people who dont care about me.

Making plans now for the holiday, the big one... sorting out gifts and stuff. I love this time of year :) Thinking about a Halloweenie Christmas!

movies

Marie Antoinette : a-
We all liked it but it I personally thought it was a bit long and the ending was wonky.
Underuse of Steve Coogan who plays a straight up role in this, and is almost out of place but not... it was odd to see him like that. Phoenix was great in it and the choice of music not only suited the scenes well but makes for an amazingly kick ass soundtrack :)

Stranger Than Fiction : a
Chris and I both loved this movie - a lot. It made us laugh and cry. I was glad to see Will Ferrell in this kind of role, not that he's not hillarious in all his other films but damn - he nails it. You totally grow to adore his character in the film and he really plays it well - you feel for him and Emma Thompson too. Shes just an amazing actress. I didn't even mind Queen Latifa in this film... All in all i'd say its up there with my top 40 of all time.

Next we'll see Casino Royal and Flushed Away... hey I gotta!!! ;)

Duran Niagara Falls

11/3/06 - Friday

Amy and I set out for NF. early! We stopped to do some shopping along the way since i was in need of a good parka and there just so happened to be an outlet mall. We also stopped along for gas and had a fun lunch at an Arby's ... though i'm not sure where that was. I think PA.

We made excellent time - leaving our area at about 9:30a and arriving about 5pm.
We stayed at a great place called Seneca Casino / Hotel. There was room service, gambling, and a gorgeous bathroom.

Ok not just the bathroom, the whole hotel rocked. Its relatively new... so the service was great, rooms impecible.

11/4/06 Show day
I was nervous as all hell (of course) We had a great breakfast in then hung out most of the day just chilling out. After a good dinner at the three sisters cafe it was showtime so we gussied up and headed out - picking up VIP and First Row tix from will call and then heard from our gal where to go for our meeting with the band.
Thanks be they were all in a good mood, John and I talked shop for a bit, then Nick and I talked about stuff too -mutual friends and what nots- I tried to ask him if they drove to the venue but he misunderstood me and we had a funny moment. :) i love him. We had a funny moment with Simon also who surprisingly was in a super mood, unlike I envisioned he'd be like. It's always such a toss up with him.

Elated and on cloud nine we chatted with our gal and then went to our seats where we just about made it. the show was so super... full of energy and lots of little fun moments that only a fan can appreciate.
heres the set list:
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF
UNION OF THE SNAKE
SERIOUS / NICE
COME UNDONE
WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW
HOLD BACK THE RAIN
SOME LIKE IT HOT / MY OWN WAY
THE REFLEX
THE CHAUFFEUR
ORDINARY WORLD
SAVE A PRAYER
A VIEW TO A KILL
NOTORIOUS
SUNRISE
WILD BOYS
***********************************
GIRLS ON FILM
RIO

We invited Nigel and Allison back to the room with us and chatted - or at least i tried. I woke up that day with no voice - typical.
It was a lot of fun, I know i'm leaving bits out, thats intentional :)

halloween 06

We're underway with autumn, finally. So much halloween stuff went on - Haunted Hayride, Halloween shopping, parties, etc... We did the Pirate theme only I took it a step further and went as Adam Ant.

I guess after reading that Autobiography I felt like reliving my first crush. I also feel like I can relate well to him; we're both outcasts. I spent so much time on that jacket - so i wanted to wear it a bunch of times to show i off a bit. We went to three events. there was the usual bit of drama just prior to halloween, which kind of sucks. I should probably mention here that Corey has been out of the picture in our group and joined the others now - its been about six months since she and Moth spilt. Any way there were some people at this one party that we did'nt want to see. They made sure to point and mumble. They probably had no idea who Adam Ant was. They're all a bit young and I have recently grown tired of the typical party girl under the age of 27.

Pedro came to visit for a week - but we didn't really get a chance to visit much with him. theres always next time ... hopefully he'll be moving here - that would be really good cos i think he really likes it here.

All in all i tried not to let some drama and general kac get in the way of my holday. I just kept thinking "Ridicule is nothing to be scared of"... thats right Adam. I dont need to be wasted on drinks to enjoy my life. I don't run away from anything in a bottle. Only weaklings with insecuries do that ;)

I've just moved a ton of my old blogs from myspace to here so I can delete them off myspace.

Signifying they are old myspace blogs i put a "{" before each topic name.

I think myspace is very evil. It brings out the worst in people and turns seeming innocent ocd'ers quite manic. I dont feel safe posting my feelings and thoughts there; its pretty much like loading your own gun to shoot yourself with. plus theres been some drama - of course - what else is new.

Subject Project Runway Finale - (Spoiler)
Posted Date: [18 Oct 2006 | Wednesday] - 11:46 PM

ULI WAS ROBBED

I can't believe Jefferey (aka Neck) won... his line was so bad- not to mention, he had been consistantly bad on the challenges, unlike Michael who was strong on the challenges and then sent a bunch of boring stinkers down the runway.  Also Jeffery was such a negative raging dickhead. I never liked his stuff, but after he was so mean to everyone and then picked on Angelas mom, it sealed the deal for me on what an ass he was.

I really was rooting for Michael or Uli cos they truly understand sportswear (which is a lot of what INC at Macys' sells), unlike Jefferey who's pigeonholed himself with really ugly "rockstar" looks. Which, i'm sorry, that look is so dated and commericalised by large retailers anyway. Not to mention all his clothes look amazingly cheap. If he's so "established" and has his own buisness why bother with a tv show competition?

Laura should have won if the winner was going to get a mentorship for an evening wear place and not INC. Her line was so gorgeous, especially the pantsuit. Shes so classy :)

But Uli's stuff was PERFECT for INC not to mention so beautiful. You can tell she really understands what women like wearing and what they look flattering in. I was so shocked it wasn't her -she kicked ass on all the challenges in addition to putting together a really nice runway line. Her stuff was so pretty - what a damn shame that she didn't win.

This happened to me last year where I was so rooting for Daniel. The only year i think they got it right was the first one where Jay won...

We're so glad to have a bunch of our good friends there to witness - and to witness Rev Spooky rock the ceremony.

happy anniverary - i *heart* you.

I feel suspended in a space
In another time and place
To talk would burst the bubble
Just want to lie next to you
And appreciate the view
And hope it lasts forever

We do not have to play games
Or listen to all the names
They have for Russian roulette
If its good enough for the Gemini Guys
Then its good enough for me

You can't set rules about love
You can't set rules about love

So the I becomes we
We make our own chemistry
To move is too much trouble
I hope we won't separate
Return to our normal state
As long as we're together

i'm in no way an expert on anything or better than anyone - but i have to say, the older i get the more intune i'm becoming with what i believe are some of the important things in life.

we watched - When The Levees Broke
http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/whentheleveesbroke/synopsis.html

over the last two nights... wow - it really puts a perspective on things... honestly. people who lost every single thing they had, photos, memoirs, personal items, even thier family members and friends- who were truly alone out there... imagine that happend to you and you lost it all. think of how hoard it would be to struggle to get back to a normal life? you wouldn't take anything for granted... or would you?

recently there's been some (not involving me thankfully) slight drama with some people i know of and it all revolves around ego, want of attention, alcoholism and some other shit. don't get me wrong, i love to party, trust me... i would be a hypocrite if i said i never did any crazy shit years ago or even months ago... but point is, i don't make it my sole purpose in life.

drunk driving

if all you have to live for is party, drink and whatever after party, drink and whatever... what kind of life is that? LOL i know i sound insane but seriously....  how selfish are you in this life that all you want to do is that? you just lose yourself in the constant need to out-do your last thing, gaining a shallow reputation that sadly for you, will wear pretty thin rather quickly with people around you... and thats kind of fucked up - it's kind of like those people who lost it all in the flood execpt you've totally lost your purpose, what's important in life and who you are cos now you can't be trusted, become a burden and people only want you for when they want to 'party' and no other reason. congratulations, you've become a shell of a being...

liver disease

maybe it has something to do with age, and the fact that i was married once to someone who was just that  - a "drunk all the time - party all the time" person and have seen first hand what these people are like up close.  i have no place in my heart for people who are this needy, egotistical and destructive. my arms can only stretch so far... the people who want to embrace me back have already secured a special place in my heart.

brain damage

what's the point in just being an attention whore and putting yourself in danger and risk of all kinds of health problems night after night? i'm sure someone would say "living life is cool!" but seriously if you think about it... you're just slowly commiting suicide and letting down all the people around them. so saying that it only really affects that one person isnt really true... what that kind of pattern of behavior that tells me is that those people have a really shitty self esteem issue and are only fooling themselves they're having fun - wandering aimlessly with no tangleble goals, they probably feel as though they have nothing to contribute to society and so they act that way - and thats whats so sad about it...

i've passed the point of having to prove myself and my worth to these types of people, so honestly if i'm not "cool" for thinking they're so wonderfully silly and oh so crazy and wild.. then so be it...  i'll just sit there, roll my eyes back and deal with it like usual. cos oh yea, i forgot... when you have opinons like mine... after people are done berating me for "not letting people have fun with 'criticising them' ... they tell me that I am entitled to my opinions but they don't want to hear it from me!

i don't define being happy and having fun as destroying myself... not sure about some other people... and if they think i'm a jerk for having that kind of an opinion then they're probably not really my friend...

"so different, but so in love" - explodingdog.com

to me things that are important in life are things like love, good quality of life, strong bonds with family and those handful of friends who are there to catch you when you're falling but to also ream you out when you fuck up, hugging someone every day, laughing, staying positive, hoping for the best but being prepared for the worst, taking care of yourself, and working at what makes you happy... etc..

i dont know why i felt like going on and on today... but i'd really like to hear what you guys think...

what do you think is important in life?

I'm not a big blogger - but since some peeps' told me that they like catching up via ThisSpace:

- Celebrated Tim's birthday Saturday with a fun meal, (holy crap we all ate too much) some drinks, and tasty Danish pastieries. It kind of sucked that certian people weren't there to celebrate the day with us... oh well, what can you do.

- Amy and I went to see World Trade Center... I had an idea about what it was going to be like but honestly... having lived soo close to it and being mere miles away as it was happening I was a little apprehensive about going to see it. The movie was ok.. but felt a little watered down (as Oliver Stone movies go). But a really great story about two of the thousands of brave people who were just doing thier jobs that day...

We saw the trailer for Black Daliah.. ooh this look really great. I remember seeing specials about her on various cable channels in the past and even did a little reseach when I purchased that Living Dead Doll years ago. Her story remains a mystery so i'm really looking forward to how they're going to tell the story.

- I'm jazzed to be celebrating my one year wedding anniversary (coming up soon) with Kreespy. It's a milestone for me  - cos i've never had this long of a relationship - and! - with my first marriage it was pretty much obviously over by the first year... i *heart* my guy and i *heart* him more as the days pass... I know I'm corny... LOL  - Anyway - We're going to see Sweeny Todd this week (I got us an early anniversary prez).

Thanks everyone for making my burfday so special... I did so much over the past three days!

Lots of fun-ness and super sentimental gifts:
The whole weekend was spent either drinking (a lot), eating, laughing and crying.

Kris gave me these really beautiful earings and necklace with hand made Milagro Hearts (Spanish / Latin culture they are called Miracle hearts, said to be the "healing heart".) After all we've been thru i thought it was really sweet and unexpected. I love them meaning behind it and it was very cool that thought of those as a gift for me... :)

Amy took me to see The Boy From Oz - which rocked ass - Hugh Jackman is a sexy ass mofo and can sing and dance his hot ass off! We kinda had to run to get there - after being stuck in traffic and after getting my house key broken in the door! Always an adventure with us, we really need our own TV Show. :) After the show, we drove past what was left of Aldos then we went to Traxx where she proceeded to feed me drink after drink - which is EXACTLY the night i wanted - Great show - Great Friends - Dancing and Smiling faces.

I had a good time on Friday night at Traxx, even tho its not the "same" and much tighter of a space. IPinchU was sweet and got me an Aldos' corner brick - very sentimental to me. Also sentimental was the card that Agent N made - with a photo of what looked just like my BooGirl (my 7 yr old cockatiel that died) I loved dancing with everyone, esp. with Nigel, Amy, Rey, Bryan, Nancy, Frank and of course Kris :) It was also really cool to see some peeps i haven't seen in a long time (old Aldos' crew) and I really thought it was cool when Ted said somthing over the speakers about Aldos and us all.

I also had a great dinner with my parents, and dinner with Kara and Charles who gave me my XMas/Bday gift of a wicked Mini Ipod which i spent the better part of Sunday filling with loads and loads of songs! Interspersed with lots of Champagne and Gin and Tonics! :) It was quite an alcholic b-day this time! now I really know what it feels like to be Daryl on a daily basis. :) LOL

Thanks everyone again! you're all awesome

A 10 Foot Tall Wearable Robot Suit.

A 10 Foot Tall Wearable Robot Suit This is literally something right out of the pages of a video game (like Xenosaga). It's a robotic suit that stands over 10 feet tall, with a cockpit for a human to sit inside and control. We reported about the Land Walker about one year ago the first time. Now it is actually on sale and there is a video of the huge robot in action.

Called The Land Walker, it weighs close to 1 ton (2,000 pounds!) and is controlled by four pedals from inside the cockpit. Additionally, it has built-in air guns that can shoot bullets (not real bullets, though..."sponge bullets"). Talk about a totally pimped out Halloween costume!
And yes, the robot is actually available for sale, though right now only in Japan, for about $315,000.

yay - what a great weekend :) hope everyone also had a fun time!

we started it off by hitting culture club on friday night for a reunion (not just any reunion) kree and tim's old punter mates from this club they used to frequent back in the day - they hadn't seen most of these peeps in like 10 years or so... turned out one of their old pals now deals with wines and cos i gave him a ride back to his apt he gave kree and i like 8 bottles of really expensive super tasty wine!  figures - i ended up bonding with one of the fellas there who was very interested in going to cage and meeting my gay friends. i swear i have a high level of "fagnetism"(TM).  I had fun hearing all thier stories and getting to know what the boys were like years ago - really bunch of great people and i can't wait to see them all again soon :)

got home at 5am and had to be back up at 8am cos there was a last minute weekend getaway trip planned - i went to ithaca ny with a couple of peeps. damn its really pretty out there. hours later we arrived at our friends' aunt's estate and had a great time chillin', drinkin', hikin', taking in the sites at the water falls and gorges and wine tasting! we went to like three great wineries - ended up buying, just what we need - more wine!! i have enough wine now to last me for the rest of this year i think!! i took about 500 photos (no joke, it was like 478 pics all together) on the digicam (thankfully i had the 4 gig card in) so i'll be posting a gallery very soon - when i'm not so tired!

had a nice bbq on the 4th with the small gang and then there were fireworks at liberty state park - tho i was napping (too much wine!) i'm afraid i'm turning into a proper wino LOL

tonight the fun carried on - got to see our old pal zach whos here from texas - yay! we have a pizza party planned tomorrow and some other schtuffies planned for this weekend as well... good times.

been missing some of my peeps tho
we need to plan a festive night out soon :)

I love surprises, and boy did I get a great one today...

John Taylor was in my office.
I got to meet him - he was so awesome!

I spoke to him breifly, I told him that I was a huge fan... but he already knew that. Smile He had a couple of nice things to tell my boss about me and made me a little embarressed. Arrg! see, when you're humble people like John Taylor do the compliementing for you! What a surreal moment. I'm just so happy he recognised me. As he left the office outside on the street he looked over and said "see ya Anna".

He looked really nice - wearing dark grey pants, black teeshirt (with a graphic on it) worn out brown ruched leather jacket and a killer smile.

*sigh*

on cloud nine right now.

* side note. i have no idea what happened in the month of april but eh its ok... this story almost didn't happen as i nearly called in sick from alchol poisoning a couple of days before.

Subject Happy 25TH Anniversary Duran Duran!
Posted Date: [16 Mar 2006 | Thursday] - 12:33 AM

25 magical years ago today, Duran Duran changed the way people not only listened to music, they changed the visual landscape of modern music as we know it. With lush disco, punk rock rhythms and catchy new wave melodies, unforgettable hooks, arragements and vocals, Duran Duran continue to become influences and icons.

I am more then just a fan of thiers. When you follow a band for thier entire carreer, the nuances and details become inbedded in your psyche and you take those memories and use them as touchstones for your entire life. They will always be an unending source of complete artistic and musical inspiration to me. To me they are more then a just a band who makes great music, as John Taylor once referred to them as, they are..."A Gang Of  Princes."

Cheers to you, Nick, John, Roger, Andy and Simon.

Precious was a special moment - and  I could see it Martin's face. Im sure everyone knows he is going thru a divorce with Suzanne and wrote that song specifically for his two little girls Ava, Viva and son Kalo and the crap that they're going thru. It was so emotional. During that song I remembered Amy and I got to meet his wife and little girls and the nanny  the last time when they played MSG cos we had seats right behind them. The girls were adorable. They were so jazzed to see thier dad and they sang to all the songs. ugh... too cute.

I got really choked up during 'Home", it's always been a personal song for me and hearing it last night reaffirmed a lot thats going on in my head. I also nearly broke down when Martin started the first line of.... 'fragile, like a baby in your arms,... " that song is so beautiful. i was so happy to sharing the moment and singing along with Martin and my boobear Kree who saw me getting all weepy and held my hand.

It was all better when the entire audience got to see Daves beautiful crotch and ass in like 5 differnt angles on 6 huge screens during one entire song.

Its also a cool moment when everyone at MSG sings Everything Counts - sends that same chill up your spine like when every does the huge arm wave in Never Let Me Down. I guess you gotta be a real longtime hardcore fan to appricate these little things but i guess its cool for a newbie too - to see the love that people have for this little band. :)

got word today that my godfather Freddie (whos more like an uncle in our fam) died. i hadn't even gotten a chance to really spend any time with him in 9 years. he had parkinsons and got pneumonia while in the hospital. he lived a full life - he was 84.

i made plans for today / tonight but honestly i am in no state of mind to do anything.

he was a just an all around nice guy - cool tall (6'3") thin with a full head of white hair parted on the side and always had a snappy comeback no matter what was said. his nickname for me was "charlie". he started calling me that after calling me peanut when i got to be like 5-6 yrs old.  he used to yell 'heyyy char-lee!" every time he saw me, even if it was at really innaproprate times and even yelled that when i walked the aisle the first time.. really cute, funny cool irish guy, with a fun witty and comical wise cracking personality who gave the best hugs. he and his wife were the first friends my parents made here when they moved here from Brazil to live. he helped teach my parents english and helped them buy a home. he also taught me how to ride a bike, and when i got older how to drive a car. he used to make me sing and dance at family parties when i was a little kid and taught me cute songs (that i can never remember lyrics too) alot of his sense of humor and favorite music really rubbed off on me too - i am really gonna miss him.

i regret not being able to spend time with him and his great wife Gracie (my godmother) after they moved to upstate Pennsylvania.

Now I can send out those Thank You cards!

on another note...

Keep it together in the family
They're a reminder of your history
Brothers and sisters they hold the key
To your heart and your soul
Don't forget that your family is gold

People can be so cold, never want to turn your back
Just givin' to get something
Always wanting something back
When I get lonely and I need to be
Loved for who I am, not what they want to see
Brothers and sisters, they've always been there for me
We have a connection, home is where the heart should be

When I look back on all the misery
And all the heartache that they brought to me
I wouldn't change it for another chance
'Cause blood is thicker than any other circumstance

i really like that song - i know it's cheesy and corny, but seeing the wedding pics last night and how i really realised that i am part of a new family and couldn't be happier about it. due to an unfortate series of events (hah) i dont belong to a big family anymore and for the last 8 years or so i've come to rely more and more on my network of close friends to be my family...

love yas...
ok enough with all this sappy shit.

anyway - i have fucking GRAND jury duty selection tomorrow - so not looking forward to that ... not only do i have to get up early and take a bus but i am actually terrified that i will get chosen and have to give up one day a week for 20 weeks. sucks.

self-conciousness of the world

Making people self-conciousness is the multi-billion dollar industry. If I think about it, it might be over trillion. The world tries to so hard to make you feel self-concious. It makes you feel uncool, ugly, fat, skinny, short, dumb, poor, and all other stupid shit make us unmotivated about life. I wonder if we have discovered the self-concious gene yet, so we can get rid of it. I think the world will be a happier place. At the same time, we might have an econmical collapse. Why would people work so hard to make themselve unique, cool, and beautiful?

Thanks to Charles and Kara, i am the proud owner of : http://www.leadsinger.com/ hehehee yay!

these guys had me laughing so hard during karaoke at one point, i nearly peed myself. we all took turns, apart from Amy and Wil who didn't sing at all ; (next time you guys are first on the list)! Kara did "girls just wanna have fun" , Frank did "caberet" and "my way", Charles did "sexual healing", Tim did a bunch of songs and  "take on me", hitting that falsetto and ranking the highest score of 93!  Kree did a bunch of songs too including "ghostbusters" and "just a gigilo" (who knew that scat part was so hysterical when its phoneticly written on a huge screen?) LOL

Pam did a song in her "Cartman" voice,  which then set the tone for Frank to do "obladi oblada" both his "Stewie Griffin" and "Barney (from Simpsons)" voices. I had already been a pinch giddy, but that just sent me over the edge.

what a great nite! we should get together like that more often! it was so much more entertaining then going to a club or bar!

I just heard from my friend that he and his fiancee are going to be using this beautiful portrait photo I took of them for thier wedding photo

(in case you aren't familiar with the custom, some couples take a photo of them and mat it to display and the wedding guests all write a message all around the mat during the course of the wedding)

wow that made me so happy -

duh i'm such an idiot, i accidentally deleted the post about chris in the hospital

im so tired  -

anyway i was going to respond with he's suppoed to come home tomorrow - i really hate hosptils and protocols. it took forever to find a nurse or dr to talk to me avout what was wrong.

recap: he spend tuesday nite in triage, then went to a room wedneday at 5pm  they said he'd be out today now saying tmorrow for sure.

i just wnat him home. im tired of going to the hospital to see the man i am going to marry. hes in less pain but there were no test results for what caused the virus yet cos he just went on solid food today and they neede him to eat real food in order to take more tests.  he had blood taken twice, he had urine test, cat scan, shot up with pain killers, i.v. you name it  its so hard to see him like that. they said this last test they'd know more tomorow morning .

they still are telling him to watch what he eats cos he was also diagnosed with diverticulosis. *sigh* i just wish he was here. i want him back home here, helping me with wedding plans walking to work with me and doing crossword puzzles. i know its only been three nites but we have never been apart for this long in over two years. i want him better and home.

sorry all your comments were deleted - im so out of it.

the jones beach show wasn't as great as the PNC one - THO
they played "come up and see me" which was so great! yay! also, simon didn't forget to introduce andy this time... and was really uber animated! he kept adjusting his package, putting the mic near his crotch and throughout the night  kept mouthing these delicious obsenites at the crowd!

we got to meet the guys after some 'where doo yoo goH" business ensued moments before this photo was taken

closer look :

ew, i look so crappy in this pic -
but i dont care - i finally got a pic with roger!

when i was done posing here i wanted to find simon for an autograph or photo but he was gone... just like john who i also havent' had a photo op with- oh well.

nick remembered me and gave me a big hug, a long "heeeyyy" and smile and i gave nick a little musical toy -he loved it - it was a chemical brothers noisemaker. it was kind of a little hint from me to him that he should consider making duran ones! he was very gracious and chatted with me for as long as they could before they all needed to go back and ready up for the show. i love that no matter what he makes special time for chatting with me.

last night i was "in the zone" and really emotional about things and the show - so now that i've absorbed it all over a good nite sleep,  i can post actual details and how great it was :

lots of smiles and energy from simon who looked amazingly hot, in a great sparlkly designed black shirt and really slick looking silver jacket.. nicks' suit was absolutely gorgeous. amy could tell you the fabric, but my god, was it beautiful -  it was like a dark grey with a black tie and black shirt  - he looked amazing. john also looked beautiful, sporting lighter hair color and no black eyeliner.

nice set list starting with "friends of mine" and as soon as simon started singing i lost my shit and nearly collapsed - my knees got weak and amy had to put her arms around me (i think she is the only one who understands me when i get that way) i sobbed hysterically as if somone murdered both my pets... probably during most of the song. i have no idea why it was so emotional for me, i've never seen them open with that song i was fine a few mins later and for the rest of the show Smile

they also played
(in a complete random order;)
hungry like the wolf
planet earth
come undone
save a prayer
notorius
chains
nice
ordinary world
sound of thunder * wow! and amy nearly punched me cos we have never ever seen them play this song live in all our combined years of seeing them.
still breathing
astronaut
new religion
'ta reflex
wild boys
girls on film
rio

i know i am missing some - eh, they'll post the real set list soon enough (not like any of you actually care LOL )

*moments*
simon forgot lyrics on reflex - funny
john apparently sang back up for wild "boiiiiieeeees" not "boys"
simon thinks people from new jersey are sexy motherfuckers
nick is a mumbler and no one can understand what he says
roger is tooo cute in track pants
and simon needs to remember there are five band members! (he forgot to introduce andy, until someone else had to remind him) - not cool simon.

ahh - i love this guys - can you tell?
off again to do it over, this time in jones beach!

last night, while everyone was partying drinking and enjoying being out - we had to nix the bbq idea and postpone til tonight since it was way too farking hot outside! 'so the guys and i just ordered in and caught up - Tim spending his week off of work helping around the apt and cleaning up with me, and Vic, who tanner then usual,  just got back from a  nice long vacation in Mexico - we had a nice dinner, and marveled at the great job Tim did setting up the new studio layout. that room really looks fantastic.

Kris and I also started making a list of "wedding" songs and finally talked about what kind of rings we want - just hope its not too late since we have a little under two months til the big day.

Speaking of - I love that i have a wedding site with no real info on it - hmm maybe should work on that sometime soon! :)

kris and i had a pretty decent weekend

on friday night after i had to stay late at work, we met up with some peeps at the new bar which we thought was an irish bar, turns out its a middle eastern bar... don't ask

the place was really cool looking, not to mention they have these great window seats with cosy pillows, cheap drinks, finger foods and HOOKAS :)  we didn't try it out, but they  have all different kinds of flavors.

saturday was good too, i worked on the wedding invites (nearly done) and then kris and i bought bikes, yes, bicycles. LOL (more on that later)

anyway... later c and k picked us up and it was off to the show - the vnv nation/imperative reaction show at irving plaza kicked ass.. i thought that IR were better, then again, im not the biggest vnv fan. the show ended up being later then we expected but we were still pretty hungry so we went to the coachouse - don't underestimate that place.. it looks dodgy on the outside but damn fine good food there.

so that brings us to today.. fathers day. kris and i went to my parents house and enjoyed a tasty bbq and my moms famous flan. then came home and went for an hour long bike ride... man, let me tell you - for never riding a bike but more then a handful of times in my entire life.. it was way harder then i thought lol

my ass is KILLING me.

yea i know..
not as *cool* as some others' great weekends but its the first time i felt decent in weeks not to mention i had fun

(our plans with nigel were switched to sunday) sooo - on saturday, i made some updates to christopherandanna.com and then went to my parents for a bit. when i got back pam (my neighbor across the hall) and i prepared for a barbeque. the food was delicious, i made cole slaw and mac and cheese the we grilled up hot dogs and burgers (which im not supposed to have but ate half of one cos it was tasty) then all hell broke loose the sky opened up and poured down rain while the sun was out... there was also booming thunder and crazy ass lightning. we rushed all the food inside as were on the deck enjoying a nice day lol then out of now where - not one but TWO rainbows appeared... i'd never seen any thing like this - i rushed to snap some shots... it was so beautiful - i made a wish :) afterwards we watched a marathon of the dave chapelle show then team america - (fuck yea) laughed my damn ass off thats for sure. love that movie - my favorite song's the country one "freedom" i love the way he sings that line "freedum is-n't free... theres a heftay fukken fee" lol it was a decent weekend - for a change... mellow and relaxed, it was nice xo PS : heehee just wanted to show you what part of the alphabet would look like wih Q &R missing LOL :) anyway - more about mini-golf at fun central with mr & ms spooky et. al later

We had a blast last night at our Lap Dancing Class.

Let me just say :

- It's probably the closest Amy and I have been over all the years I've known her. LOL no, really!

- Who knew I was that flexible?

- Amy knows how to steal a show: I.E. Don't stand in line behind her you dont want to follow her routine

Honestly, it was a lot of fun and I was glad to see people of ALL shapes and sizes there. The instructor was great, I picked up some new moves and experienced something that i normally would never have done on my own. I have to also admit for me personally, the class doubled as a confience builder. It really opened me up a little and while I was really hestitant, I'm glad Amy changed my mind about going.

We couldn't stop laughing for nearly the entire two hours. At the begining of the night we were both kind of cautious but once we got into it, we just totally went for it... who cares? It wasn't like we were ever going to see these people again! Amy reminded me of something Tim used to say to us all the time.... "you guys are just one pube away from bumpin' boxes.." wow - if he could have only seen us last night!

Great show last night - in nyc :)
very energic and at times chaotic - i just wrote an entire blog and managed to some how lose it so i'll try to re write it now:

They looked amazing, sounded great - the whole experience was fun. Careless Memories ROCKED! Hold Back the Rain was great too - I love that John is Center Stage for that! Tiger Tiger/Chauffer is my favorite part of the show tho - really beautiful.

Excellent 8th row seats near Andy Faaakin' Taylor who nearly lost his sunglasses mulitple time from all the rockin' he did. God, so much eye candy to look at on stage you really dont know where to look sometimes. uh.. what else, lets see, SIMON was great, beautiful sexy, witty, charming.. and wow, what a dancer! NICK and those fabu glitter pants - i swear he's the only one who could pull those off and of course JOHN who is just the cutest thing ever. John, at one point said "do we really have to tell you how much we love you NYC, you already know - this is our second home... "

Toward the beginning of the show, Simon mentioned how it was great to be back at MSG with the OG line up after 21 years - saying "its really special for us and we knew we'd be back" it was really touching and i got a little misty :)

Sometimes when were down on the floor and they do a certain song like "Save a Prayer" I have to look around and back at the magnitude of the crowd and how just about everyone was singing along, holding up the lit up cell phones (instead of a lighter) and just be amazed by it all... its really mind blowing to me. You follow a band for over 22 years of your life and have this really special and personal connection, then you look around and realize, wow, look at all the lives they've touched... thats just fucking cool.

Props to Christian, who brought a Blow Up Doll to throw at Simon during "Bedroom Toys"! (In AC someone had handcuffs, but you cant' one-up the NYC durannie!) He must have spend the entire set during Juilet just blowing it up cos it was all ready to go by the time Bedroom Toys was being performed. LOL

Anyone who makes it to your inner circle gets there because they're intelligent, witty and entertaining -- the cream of the crop. That doesn't mean you're a snob, however -- only that you appreciate and insist on nothing but the best in all departments. So when a friend surprises you, it's an especially delightful moment. Well, pack some tissues in your lunchbox. One of those moments is en route.

This was by far the coolest off broadway show i've ever seen; morbidly beautiful and bitingly witty. It's basically a collective German children stories played out with really interesting caberet style music and song. The main story is about this child called Peter who was born with long fingernails and a shocked head of hair - it reminded me of Edward Scissorhands a bit.

Here are some clips from the show: (flash files)

If you're into Burton or Gorey you should go see this!

I suggested (From my friend Sharon who knew i'd love it) to Kris, Corey, Tim, Nigel and Vic... By the middle of the show I was really worried that they'd either wouldn't get it or whatever, but afterwards when I got thier reactions I was relieved that they all loved it as much as I did!

I'd definately go see this again so if anyone else wants to go, please let me know!

I had a fucking blast with Amy at the Duran Show last night... While we had a rough start in the morning and early afternoon, once we got on the road and I re-read the Directions! (duh) we finally got there and were all set.

We managed to get into a meet and greet with a handful of people so you know that made our night already!

I dont know why, but I made a b-line for Simon first. Damn, he looked HOT as HELL. isn't he dreamy *swoon* I introduced myself to him and he leaned over and kissed my cheek - i was in heaven. He smelled so awesome. I tried to take one of those arm up self portraits but he was so tall, he was like "hey, think you should get someone to help us out here" LOL

We then were approched by Andy - he was awesome... I said somthing like - "hey we don't have anything for you to sign but can we get a photo - he was really cool with us and joked about digital cameras. I felt bad that I couldn't really understand him so we just took a photo! I swear he was smiling right before the photo was taken!

The guys we spent the most time with were Nick and John.

THEY ROCK. It was so surreal. I got to talk to Nick about music and stuff... Then breifly wth John about stuff too.

All I kept thinking of when I saw him again was how as we were walking to the backstage suite, he was hanging out in the hallway and saw us on the way over - since there was a small train of us (5-6 people) so he was kind of 'singing" this tune, like how you'd hear in a parade - "dah dat daa pah" LOL He was so cute.

I backed up so that Amy could have a moment alone with John and managed to capture it. While they were talking Nick sorta worked his way back to us and we got to chat a bit more before they all had to go....

We tried to catch Roger, but he's really elusive! lol While we were taking a photo with Andy I heard him (Roger) talking to this girl in a wheelchair - He said something like "i'm gonna need that after the show tonight!" I thought that was cute. I turned around to try to catch Roger but he was *poof* gone!

You know, it really kills me what some people would say to these guys... I overheard some girl telling Simon how she heard the show in Wilkes Barre wasn't that great. Who says that??? LOL

Anyway - Call me what you will, but It meant so much to me to be able to have that moment with the guys. It didn't even hit me that I was lucky enough to experience that til like the show started - by the second song I had this really retarded delayed reaction and started bawling right there in my seat. I think I cried for like more then half of the show~

The Show was AH-MAZE-ING! They were so "on" - very energetic and sounded great! I'm not sure what the deal was with the Grim Reaper or as Simon introduced him as "The Grim Rapper" lol but there was some dude with a sickel dressed in a black hooded robe walking around the stage, while the guys seeemed undisturbed by him, they dind't even acknowlege him! Later during the encore, Girls on Film, Simon jumped in to the GA section and did a little crowd surfing! He rocks.
